Annual We the People Chicago Metro Summer Institute The Center
for Civic Education and North Park University are proud to offer:
Up to 25 teachers will attend—at no cost to themselves or the
school. This three-day program on the U.S. Constitution, using the nationally
acclaimed The Summer Institute is a three-day professional development program to prepare participants to teach in-depth lessons on the U.S. Constitution. Up to 25 Illinois teachers from all grade levels can apply. Lecture, Teaching Method and Assessment of Content address the following issues: ★ How did the Framers create the Constitution?★ How did the values and principles embodied in the Constitution shape American institutions and practices? The three days will include: ★ Classes: A leading Constitutional Scholar lectures and leads discussions on aspects of the U.S.Constitution★ Lesson Demonstrations: Elementary, middle and high school teachers demonstrate We the People... curriculum, and serve as mentors to assist and advise participants. ★ The Simulated Congressional Hearing will be the culminating activity of the institute. ★ Academic credit from North Park University will be available and CPDU’s. ★ Breakfast and lunch will be included each day.
