The First Annual We the People Chicago Metro Summer Institute

The Center for Civic Education and North Park University are proud to offer:
The Citizen and the Constitution

Up to 25 teachers will attend—at no cost to themselves or the school. This three-day program on the U.S. Constitution, using the nationally acclaimed
We the People…curriculum.

   

The Summer Institute is a three-day professional development program to prepare participants to teach in-depth lessons on the U.S. Constitution. Up to 25 Illinois teachers from all grade levels can apply.

Lecture, Teaching Method and Assessment of Content address the following issues:

How did the Framers create the Constitution?
How did the values and principles embodied in the Constitution shape American institutions and practices?

The three days will include:

Classes: A leading Constitutional Scholar lectures and leads discussions on aspects of the U.S.Constitution
Lesson Demonstrations: Elementary, middle and high school teachers demonstrate We the People... curriculum, and serve as mentors to assist and advise participants.
The Simulated Congressional Hearing will be the culminating activity of the institute.
Academic credit from North Park University will be available and CPDU’s.
Breakfast and lunch will be included each day.
