Click for free set of classroom textsWelcome to the Illinois Center for Civic Education website for teachers, coordinators, and all others affiliated (or interested in becoming affiliated) with the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution program.  This is the place to find out what is happening with We the People in classrooms and districts throughout Illinois.  Are you interested in a training seminar?  Would you like to obtain a free set of We the People textbooks for your classroom?  Do you want your students to participate in a simulated congressional hearing?  This is the place to find out how to get involved and stay involved in the We the People  program. 

Ten 5th grade classes from Strassburg School in Sauk Village participated in We the People hearings on April 21, 2011. Many parents, administrators and teachers were in attendance.

We the People and the Cook County State's Attorney held hearings at the Cook County Criminal Courts on Law Day, April 30, 2010. St. Gregory High School in Chicago was a participant.

Civic Education News
Congratulations Maine South High School at the 2011 National Finals for the We the People Constitution Competition.


Maine South was the winner of the Ronald Reagan Award for best unit presentation in the nation and one of the top ten schools in the nation---all 50 states were represented with teams!
